Do always handle and store discs in a careful manner.
Do visually inspect all discs before mounting for possible damage.
Do make sure machine speed does not exceed operating speed marked on the disc.
Do be sure threaded inserts are free of foreign material.
Do be sure cap screws are all of proper and equal length.
Do tighten mounting screws according to following:
Start all screws before attempting to tighten any one of them. Snug each one finger tight. Tighten to 15–20ft.lbs. in a crisscross sequence pattern for each bolt circle, starting with inner.
Do always use the proper guard on machine, according to ANSI B7.1.
Do allow newly mounted discs to run at operating speed for at least one minute.
Do always wear proper eye protection.
Do turn off coolant before stopping discs to avoid an out of balance condition.
Don’t use an abrasive disc that has been dropped or damaged.
Don’t force a disc onto the machine; if the disc won’t fit the machine; get one of proper dimensions and drilling.
Don’t ever exceed maximum operating speed established for the Disc.
Don’t use machine face plates on which the mounting surfaces are not clean and flat.
Don’t use cap screws that will bottom out in the threaded disc insert.
Don’t tighten the mounting screws or nuts excessively.
Don’t use pipes or hammers to put extra tension on the screws or nuts.
Don’t start the machine until all the guards are in place.
Don’t stand directly in line with the outer diameter of the disc whenever the grinder is started.
Don’t grind material for which the disc is not designed.
Don’t grind without proper ventilation.
